Concordia, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on promoting effective and sustainable public-private collaboration, is excited to announce the appointment of former Slovakian Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda to the Concordia Leadership Council.

Mr. Dzurinda was the Prime Minister of Slovakia from 1998 to 2006, then Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2010 until 2012, and now serves as a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Relations as well as the President of Centre for European Studies. Mr. Dzurinda’s distinguished career in politics and government as well as his background as an economic analyst will work to promote innovative public-private collaboration to solve key global problems.

Concordia Co-Founders Matthew Swift and Nicholas Logothetis, along with the Leadership Council welcome Mr. Dzurinda: “We are delighted to welcome Mr. Dzurinda into our leadership team. His career is remarkable, serving and driving the government of Slovakia. Mr. Dzurinda’s expertise and experience will be very valuable to further develop Concordia as the foremost platform for public-private collaboration.”

On joining the Leadership Council, Mr. Dzurinda said, “It is a great honor for me to be a member of such a prestigious Community, as Concordia is. I always welcome strengthening of transatlantic cooperation, because it brings better quality, higher effectiveness and security, but also more competitiveness in all areas. I would like to contribute with my long-term experiences to seek the answers on the challenges, we face.”

“I am thrilled by the addition of Prime Minister Dzurinda,” said fellow Concordia Leadership Council Member and Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s JFK Belfer Center, Ambassador Paula J. Dobriansky.  “He will bring vast experience and an in-depth understanding of the great value of public-private partnerships and their global impact.”

Once becoming Prime Minister, Dzurinda and his government introduced far-reaching reforms which are credited in enabling Slovakia to join the European Union and NATO in 2004. More recently, Dzurinda was Minister for Foreign Affairs from July 2010 to April 2012. Dzurinda is a founding member of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union – Democratic Party (SDKÚ-DS) and was chairman of the party from 2000 to 2012. He was elected to the Slovak Parliament following elections in 2012 and is currently a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Relations.
