Concordia, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on promoting effective and sustainable public-private collaboration, is excited to announce the appointment of former Mexican President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa to the Concordia Leadership Council.

Mr. Calderón served as the President of the United States of Mexico from 2006-2012, and now serves as the Inaugural Angelopoulos Global Public Leaders Fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Mr. Calderón is credited with boosting Mexico’s economic development and made tremendous advances to the country’ immigration, health care, security, and environmental policies.

“President Calderón’s distinguished career in politics and government is a great example of an effective leader,” said Concordia Co-Founders Matthew Swift and Nicholas Logothetis. “Concordia has the unique opportunity to learn from one of the world’s leaders in the practice of partnerships. President Calderón is another example of Concordia advancing public-private collaboration because of President Calderón’s strong support of private sector innovation. With his prior keynote address at our London dinner and his attendance at the 2014 Concordia Summit we are excited to continually pass along the best practices from President Calderón’s work.”

On joining the Leadership Council, Mr. Calderón said, “Public-private partnerships are key to closing the global infrastructure deficit and I am delighted to join Concordia’s efforts to promote their use.”

Under Mr. Calderón’s administration, Mexico achieved universal health coverage. The president also established economic reform as a top priority of his administration. Despite the widespread impact of the 2009 economic crisis in Mexico, President Calderón’s leadership in overcoming the recession and improving Mexico’s competitiveness has been widely recognized. Under his tenure, the Mexican economy registered stability, economic growth and job creation. In 2012, President Calderón chaired the G20 conference. Currently, President Calderón serves as Chair of The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, and President of the Sustainable Human Development Foundation.
