Concordia is proud to continue its partnership with CARE, a 2021 Annual Summit Lead Programming Partner.

For 75 years, CARE has led the way to a better life for the world’s most vulnerable people. In 2020, CARE worked in over 100 countries, reaching more than 90 million people through 1,300 projects. CARE is making bold commitments to invest $100 million in supporting 10 million women and girls as leaders through savings and solidarity groups, and an additional $30 million in humanitarian funding to organizations led by women and girls that focus on women’s and girls’ rights. Moreover, CARE is focused on food security to help the world avoid widespread famine.

“Empowering women is critical to addressing global challenges relating to health, prosperity, and security. I’m proud to welcome back to our community CARE, an organization that is making bold commitments to investing in women and girls,” said Concordia’s Co-Founder & CEO, Matthew Swift. “Through this Programming Partnership, we’re delighted to be collaborating with Cargill and PepsiCo, as well, to bring much-needed awareness to the need to empower women in the face of global crises.”

With millions of women working in both formal and informal supply chains, business has a unique opportunity to accelerate change in behavior that benefits women around the world. This year’s Annual Summit will feature a Main Stage session co-hosted by CARE, Empowering Women to Face Down Global Economic and Food Challenges, focused on how companies and CARE are working together to empower women. The session will feature Michelle Nunn, President & CEO of CARE, Taryn Barclay, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at Cargill, C.D. Glin, VP, PepsiCo Foundation, and Global Head of Philanthropy, PepsiCo, and Rosita Najmi, Sr. Director, Head of Social Innovation, PayPal.

“The world is coming to recognize that the well-being of women and girls is at the center of eradicating poverty,” Nunn said. “At CARE we make lasting investments in women and girls because they have the unique power to change families and communities for the better. To that end, we are deeply grateful for this ongoing partnership with Concordia and our work with the private sector, as we strive to make strategic investments to reduce hunger and increase women’s economic empowerment in a world now battling a triple crisis driven by Covid, conflict, and climate change.”
