UNICEF AND DIGITAL OPPORTUNITY TRUST PARTNER TO PREPARE YOUTH FOR FUTURE OF WORK
RELIEFWEB

UNICEF and Digital Opportunity Trust are preparing today’s youth for the economy of the post-pandemic era.

The two entities are creating a joint program that will deliver digital skills to 750 young people in Jordan. The ultimate goal of the program: to ensure that youth are attuned to the realities of the future job market—in which remote, micro, and freelance work structures may take center stage—and to connect youth to meaningful employment opportunities.

WHY IT MATTERS: Telecommuting is here to stay. Smart, savvy, and responsible usage of digital tools proves essential if one is to thrive in the remote workplace.

CBS AND NAACP ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP FOR DIVERSE CONTENT
cnn

#OscarsSoWhite reminded us that our entertainment industry is woefully lacking in diversity. Now, CBS Television Studios and the NAACP are teaming up in the fight for more inclusion.

On Wednesday, the two organizations announced that they were partnering to develop premium content that highlights underrepresented voices. The partnership’s central objective is to increase the visibility and impact of Black artists.

WHY IT MATTERS: Entertainment’s diversity problem continues to make headlines. A 2019 diversity report finds that BIPOC make up just 19.8% of film leads, 21.5% of broadcast scripted leads, 21.3% of cable scripted leads, and 21.3% of digital scripted leads. CBS itself has been slammed for its lack of representation: four years ago, the hashtag #CBSSoWhite went viral.

It’s an understatement to say that change is overdue.

MOBIHEALTHNEWS

Need vitamins? Soon, they could be almost instantly brought to your doorstep.

On Wednesday, retail pharmacy giant Walgreens and delivery service DoorDash announced that they were teaming up to offer on-demand delivery of nonprescription medications. Customers living in Chicago, Atlanta, and Denver can now use the DoorDash app to have over-the-counter medicines and other health and wellness products delivered to their homes. Walgreens and DoorDash plan to expand the service to the Cincinnati, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Sacramento, and Seattle areas by the end of the summer.

WHY IT MATTERS: For those who are suffering from chronic or acute pain and need over-the-counter medication, a trip to the pharmacy may not be possible. Nonprescription deliveries are not just convenient; they may be highly critical.
