The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is a model public-private partnership hosted by the United Nations Foundation to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions. With over 1,000 partners worldwide across various sectors, the Alliance seeks to mobilize high-level national and donor commitments toward the goal of universal adoption of clean cookstoves and fuels. By 2020, it aims to foster the adoption of clean cookstoves and fuels in 100 million households.

This partnership has already achieved immense impact. In three years, the Alliance has succeeded in expanding from 1.6 million clean cookstoves to 8.4 million. With support from a wide range of private, public, and nonprofit stakeholders, the Alliance is well on its way to attaining its 2020 goal.
