Concordia is honored to announce that The Hon. Orette Bruce Golding, former Prime Minister of Jamaica, has joined its Leadership Council. With a distinguished career spanning politics, governance, and international diplomacy, Mr. Golding brings invaluable expertise to Concordia’s mission of fostering cross-sector collaboration to address global challenges.
A respected statesman, Mr. Golding served as Prime Minister of Jamaica from 2007 to 2011, leading critical reforms in governance, fiscal policy, and social development. Under his leadership, Jamaica saw the entrenchment of a new Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms, the establishment of the Independent Commission of Investigations, and the introduction of legislation to protect whistleblowers exposing public sector malfeasance. His tenure also prioritized education and healthcare access, including the abolition of tuition fees at public secondary schools and the removal of hospital charges for patients at public facilities.
Beyond his time in office, Mr. Golding has remained a prominent figure in international affairs. He has led election observer missions on behalf of the Commonwealth and the Organization of American States in countries such as Bangladesh, Kenya, and the Maldives. He currently serves as a member of the Eminent Persons Group working with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to address the political, economic, and humanitarian crisis in Haiti.
“We are thrilled to welcome Prime Minister Golding to Concordia’s Leadership Council,” said Matthew A. Swift, Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO of Concordia. “His deep experience in governance, economic development, and regional diplomacy will strengthen our ability to advance impactful conversations and solutions at the highest levels.”
