During the conversation, Matthew Swift shared how the idea for Concordia originated from an auction at Georgetown University that offered the opportunity for a one-on-one meeting with Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State. Dr. Albright, ultimately ended up being the first person Concordia was pitched to, and from there the idea became a reality. Though the first Concordia Annual Summit began as a small event with 100 attendees, it is now the largest and most inclusive nonpartisan forum alongside the UNGA, with over 3000 attendees with representatives from over 90 countries. Swift described Concordia as “a forum discussing the world not as one person sees it but as a broader collective sees it, with no bias towards political party or political movement, and no bias for public sector or private sector.”

Swift delved into the social entrepreneurial mindset that runs Concordia, and the importance of creating an environment where individuals and organizations are consistently pushed to address issues and brainstorm new ways to collaborate and drive change in the public affairs domain.

Additionally Swift shared what lies ahead for Concordia in upcoming 2021 programming.
