Concordia is pleased to announce the appointment of Maria Eugenia Brizuela de Avila, Mayu, Executive Coach and Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of El Salvador, to its Leadership Council.

Mayu is a resilient leader who has broken barriers as the first female Minister of Foreign Affairs in El Salvador and the first female president of both an insurance company and a private bank. Now, a certified Executive Coach, she continues her trailblazing journey, contributing her expertise to various global initiatives and nonprofits such as Vital Voices and Junior Achievement. Mayu’s impactful roles extend to serving as an independent director on the boards of banks and insurance companies in various countries, and on the Bolsa de Valores de El Salvador. Additionally, she holds positions in global initiatives such as the International Commission on Missing Persons and the Atlantic Council.

Concordia’s Co-Founder, President & CEO, Matthew Swift, said: “It’s a privilege to formally welcome  Mayu to our Leadership Council. Mayu is a trailblazer who has broken so many barriers and a recognized leader in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors both in El Salvador and across Latin America. She will undoubtedly play an important role in the development of Concordia’s Americas Initiative and the growth of our organization more broadly. Welcome, Mayu.”

“I have followed Concordia’s work for many years, convinced of its contribution to fostering meaningful dialogue, sparking collaboration, and inspiring collective action. I am now honored to be part of its Leadership Council where I will be able help drive forward its mission. Thank you, Concordia, for letting me better serve and impact globally,” Mayu Avila expressed.
