Concordia’s executive leadership team and Nominations Committee are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrew Steer, President & CEO of the Bezos Earth Fund, to the Concordia Leadership Council.

A distinguished leader in the fight against climate change, Dr. Steer has demonstrated a remarkable body of work. With leadership roles within the World Resources Institute, World Bank, the UK Department of International Development, and now the Bezos Earth Fund, Dr. Steer possesses invaluable insight into the various cross-sector solutions to the climate crisis that the world now has at its disposal. As one of the world’s most experienced and respected thought leaders on environmental protection, his appointment to the Leadership Council comes at a critical moment for Concordia as the organization doubles down on its commitments to advocating for – and establishing – market-led environmental sustainability solutions.

“In these truly urgent times, Dr. Steer has proven himself to be one of the world’s leading and most insightful voices in the search for innovative solutions that address the climate crisis and protect nature. Under his leadership, the Bezos Earth Fund has committed to protecting 30% of the planet’s natural resources by 2030, with a particular focus on providing support to indigenous communities,” said H.E. Iván Duque Márquez, Former President of the Republic of Colombia and Concordia Leadership Council Member. “We look forward to drawing on his strategic, catalytic approach, along with his deep expertise in philanthropy, and know he will make an invaluable contribution to Concordia’s efforts to find market-based environmental solutions.”

Alongside his extensive experience in leadership roles across key sectors, Dr. Steer holds impressive accreditations from world-leading academic institutions including St Andrews University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Cambridge University.

“Dr. Steer’s extensive experience – along with his deep understanding of the importance of collaboration in driving environmental sustainability – make him an invaluable partner to Concordia,” said Matthew Swift, Co-Founder & CEO of Concordia. “As we double down our focus on establishing market-led solutions to this critical global issue, we look forward to drawing on Dr. Steer’s insight, ideas, and research, and know he will bring an innovative perspective.”
