Concordia is proud to announce Walmart as a Programming Sponsor for the upcoming 2020 Annual Summit

In just over 50 years, Walmart has expanded into the biggest retailer in the world, employing over 2.2 million associates worldwide. Walmart has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to being at the vanguard of sustainability, corporate philanthropy, and employment opportunity. By leading projects such as Project Gigaton and The Sustainability Insight System Index, Walmart’s innovative approach to collaboration galvanizes suppliers to be part of large-scale environmental change.

Walmart will feature in the Environmental Sustainability & Supply Chains programming block of the 2020 Annual Summit, with a Main Stage session that will explore how companies can deliver on their environmental, social, and governance goals. This session will hear from Kathleen McLaughlin, Executive Vice President & Chief Sustainability Officer for Walmart Inc., who is at the helm of helping Walmart create meaningful economic opportunities that enhance the sustainability of general supply chains and strengthen the resilience of local communities. It will discuss trends in corporate purpose and the tactical steps that leading companies are taking to fully integrate ESG reporting into their business strategy. The conversation will also highlight how companies can develop a shared value approach, the importance of priorities, goals, and targets, and whether enough is being done to achieve the 2030 Agenda laid forth by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Additionally, the Programming Sponsorship will consist of a Keynote Town Hall, featuring Judith McKenna, President & CEO of Walmart International, focusing on the urgent steps that private sector companies must take in order to drive progress towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to reduce global inequality, more broadly. A long-time champion of diversity and inclusion, McKenna is a passionate advocate for women’s equality  in the workforce, as well as Walmart’s role in promoting economic opportunity and reducing inequality. Her ability to drive strategic and innovative change has led to Walmart becoming one of the most dynamic and diverse companies, being recognized by indices such as Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index and the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index, to name but a few.
