Concordia is honored to announce that The Hon. Eamon Gilmore, former EU Special Representative for Human Rights and former Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland, has joined its Leadership Council. With a distinguished career in governance and international diplomacy, Mr. Gilmore brings invaluable expertise to Concordia’s mission of fostering cross-sector collaboration to address global challenges.
Highlighting his diplomatic skills, Mr. Gilmore was a Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2011-2014, and since 2015, he has been the EU Special Envoy for the Peace Process in Colombia. Mr. Gilmore was also a member of Dáil Éireann, the Irish Parliament (1989-2016), and was Leader of the Irish Labour Party (2007-2014). Further cementing his government involvement, he served on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for three years and was Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE in 2012.
Before his election to Dáil Éireann, Mr. Gilmore worked as a trade union officer for eleven years, and he was President of the Union of Students in Ireland (1976-1978). Outside of the office, he is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University and in 2017 was Visiting Practitioner Chair at the School of Public Policy, Central European University, Budapest.
