Concordia and Panorama announce a Programming Partnership to examine the future of work and accelerate the evolution of workplaces that help individuals thrive both at work and at home. The partnership will also seek to launch a series of projects to build a business case for family-friendly policies.

Panorama is an action tank working to solve global problems through audacious thinking and bold action. A key area of focus for the organization is the future of work, particularly as it relates to economic and upward mobility. Panorama’s recent research highlights the fact that allowing employees to take paid time away from work to care for family members is one of the most powerful ways employers can increase employee productivity, retention, and engagement.

By convening employers and sharing insights, the programming partnership will strive to amplify the unparalleled business case for organizations to introduce paid family and medical leave benefits. The partnership will spark much-needed workplace conversations to accelerate the evolution of best practices that ensure all Americans experience economic mobility, are productive, and healthy. Through business-led, C-suite level decisions that leverage Concordia’s network and platform, the partnership will elevate the importance of these issues.

Importantly, the 2018 Concordia Annual Summit will provide a global platform for Panorama to announce its Paid Leave Return on Investment (ROI) Framework and Paid Leave Pledge cohort, promoting companies that have committed to publicly sharing data on their paid family and medical leave programs and raising awareness of the impact on both the business and its employees.

The conversations will be continued well beyond the 2018 Concordia Annual Summit, by exploring issues that disproportionately affect women, low-income and marginalized communities, and ensuring that they receive the same sense of urgency that AI and automation have garnered in future of work related discourse.

QUOTES:

“Businesses play a critical role in meeting the needs of a changing workforce, by providing programs and policies that support workers and their families. And the business case is unparalleled. Concordia’s programming partnership with Panorama will not only strive to raise awareness of paid family and medical leave programs, but also prompt much-needed workplace conversations to accelerate the evolution of best practices,Kevin Wenzel, Senior Programming Advisor at Concordia

“The needs and demographics of the U.S. workforce are changing and, in the absence of federal policy, businesses are leading the way in providing critical support systems to workers,” said Kimble Snyder, Director at Panorama. “We’re working to support these efforts by helping employers understand that this investment, while good for workers, is also good for business through building an evidence-base around the impacts of paid leave.”
