Concordia today announces a continuation of its partnership with the Global Fund as a 2021 Annual Summit Lead Programming Partner.

The Global Fund is a worldwide movement to defeat HIV, TB and malaria. It generates and invests US$4billion a year to fight the deadliest infectious diseases and ensure a healthier, safer, more equitable future for all. The organization has also been a critical partner in combating COVID-19 in the most vulnerable communities, and is a founding partner of the ACT-Accelerator, the world’s largest coalition to turbocharge the development, production and equitable delivery of new tests, treatments, vaccines and health supplies worldwide.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has made it evident that we must make major investments to fortify our worldwide health care systems, not only to combat the current epidemic but existing and future ones as well,” commented Concordia’s Co-Founder & CEO, Matthew Swift. “We look forward to working once again with the Global Fund to reinforce systems for health.”

At the 2021 Annual Summit, the Global Fund will contribute to Concordia’s Health Disparities, Recovery, and Resilience programming track, highlighting its work in regards to pandemic preparedness,  the importance of investing in Community Health Workers, and exploring the role of the private sector in addressing these issues. Through this Programming Partnership, Concordia and the Global Fund will highlight the importance of uniting the international community to defeat infectious diseases and protect vulnerable communities.

Peter Sands, Executive Director, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Concordia again this year to highlight the importance of investing in global health to build stronger systems for health and save lives. Our investments in formal and community health systems paved the way for the COVID-19 responses in low-and-middle-income countries and are critical to prepare for future health threats.”
