Coronavirus Emergency Appeal for Child Refugees in Tanzania

July 24, 2020  | WEBINAR

11:00 am EDT – 12:00 pm EDT

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to sweep through refugee communities around the globe, those that are subject to the most lasting and devastating consequences are refugee children. In Tanzania, there are over 210,000 displaced people living in confined and underfunded refugee camps. With a weak healthcare system, a lack of basic protective equipment, testing or treatment facilities, and extremely high levels of malnutrition and pre-existing health conditions, today’s pandemic poses an enormous threat to these young children and their families. In collaboration with award-winning artist Wyclef Jean and Save the Children, Global Citizen Forum recently launched a collaborative campaign to address the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable refugee children and their families in the two refugee camps in Tanzania. The partnership is aiming to raise a total of $1,000,000 to meet the vital needs of refugee children and families in Tanzania, including proper health, sanitation, nutrition, education, and protection of fundamental human rights.

Join us for a webinar with Wyclef Jean, in conversation with Global Citizen Forum’s Founder & Chairman of the Board, Armand Arton, and Save the Children International’s Director of Program Development & Quality, Bester Mulauzi. This wide-ranging conversation, developed in collaboration with Concordia Programming Partner, Global Citizen Forum, will build on existing webinar discussions on the impact of COVID-19 in global refugee response and humanitarian crisis, and share partnership insights and perspectives around this urgent call to action.
