Concordia was honored to host a conversation with Leadership Council member and former President of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez and Rebecca Jarvis, Chief Business and Economics Correspondent at ABC News. The event was be co-hosted by Daniel Kerner, Latin American Practice Head of Eurasia Group, the world’s largest political risk consultancy firm. Eurasia Group Founder and President, Dr. Ian Bremmer, is a fellow member of the Concordia Leadership Council.

During this conversation, President Uribe offered his unique perspective on the current geopolitical climate in Latin America, with a particular focus on the region’s economic growth and its ability to sustain long-term political and social reforms through good governance and closer collaboration with civil society.

The evening was a precursor to the 2015 Concordia Summit, to be held on October 1-2, 2015, which will feature several Latin American leaders expanding on this conversation with particular focus on the current status of democracy in the region.
