Concordia featured a Conversation Series roundtable conversation with former Senate Majority Leader & U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace, Sen. George J. Mitchell on the topic of Geopolitical Power Shifts in the Middle East.
Senator Mitchell has had a distinguished career in public service. He served in the Senate as a member of the Democratic Party for 15 years and held the position of majority leader from 1989 to 1995. In 2009, Senator Mitchell was appointed as United States Special Envoy for Middle East Peace by President Obama.
During this discussion, Senator Mitchell offered unique insight on the current status of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the regional impact of countries such as Iran and Saudi Arabia, the scale and scope of the Syria crisis, and the broader implications for democracy and sustainability in the region.
