Counter violent extremism (CVE) strategies are continually evolving to delegitimize the extremist narratives of terrorist organizations such as ISIL that pervade social media and global news. Frances Fragos Townsend, Concordia Leadership Council member and former Homeland Security Advisor, led a roundtable discussion on, “Countering Violent Extremism: The Global Re-think on Sustainable Security.” As a woman pioneer and leading advocate of CVE intervention strategies, she highlighted the most targeted efforts to combat extremism, encompassing empowerment and education programs. Concordia Leadership Council member, John Koudounis, President & CEO of Mizuho Securities USA, Inc., will provide introductory remarks.
