Since taking the reins in 2012, Tim has expanded iDE’s scope and scale, building capacity for the organization to change the lives of 20 million more people. Under his leadership, iDE is prepared to try new things and take risks to create big returns on investments in entrepreneurs and rural households.
Tim has always been passionate about understanding and addressing the root causes of poverty. As an undergraduate exchange student in the U.K., Tim had the freedom to explore how some countries developed wealth while others did not, by studying the economic developmental histories of Kenya, Rwanda, Singapore, Nigeria, and Korea. Tim worked in Romania and Kosovo following graduation, learning first-hand about the interrelatedness of development issues. To add additional economics and business acumen to his skill-set, Tim attended the China Europe International Business School for an M.B.A., then spent two decades working in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East for the Soros Foundation, UNESCO, the New American School Development Corporation, and Chemonics. Tim is proud to lead an organization that reaches millions with innovative market solutions, meeting global challenges in poverty, food security, and health.
