Mónica García Gómez was born in Madrid on January 16th, 1974.
Minister of Health of Spain since November 21st, 2023.
She holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has specialized in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at the 12 de Octubre Hospital (Madrid).
She also has a Master’s degree in Clinical Management at the National School of Health.
Since 2015, Mrs. Mónica García Gómez has been a Deputy of the political party Más Madrid at the Madrid Assembly.
In the 2021 regional elections, she ran for the first time as a candidate for the Madrid Presidency and repeated in the elections of May 28th, 2023.
Mrs. García Gómez also worked as an anesthesiologist at the 12 de Octubre Hospital. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she combined her work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the 12 de Octubre Hospital with her work as a Deputy.
From 2012 and 2013, Mrs. García Gómez was an activist and spokeswoman in the Marea Blanca, a movement that began in the Community of Madrid in 2012.
