Susan Capps is an Executive Director in Global Value and Access at Amgen, Inc. She leads the corporate initiative, Access to Medicine, which addresses equitable access through programs for low/lower middle income patients as well as through efforts for building resilient health systems. She also led an International Health Policy team, where they were responsible for developing corporate policy positions for key therapeutic areas as well as for overall healthcare issues affecting patient access and health outcomes. Susan has worked with regional and country teams to effectively implement local strategies; and engages directly with various international organizations on key policy issues.
Susan has 25+ years in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, dedicated to developing and evolving areas of market access, pricing, and health policy. She has extensive global experience in developing access strategies for multiple products in go/no-go decisions and launch situations. Her experience includes providing payer perspectives for pipeline products, in order to inform clinical development trials and commercial strategy. In addition to global experience, Susan previously managed market access activities and strategies in 2 regions: Latin America/Canada and Japan/Asia-Pacific. This work included the development of new value, access and policy teams in multiple country offices as part of Amgen’s regional expansion into Latin America and Asia. Prior to joining Amgen in 2006, Susan has held pricing and reimbursement positions at Eli Lilly and Company as well as at IMS Health, where she worked on US pricing issues.
