Sandy S. Castor

Vice President for Development, Baldwin Equities

Bio Current as of December 8, 2020

Sandy S. Castor is a seasoned political operative, with a deep passion for civic engagement, who founded her own consulting firm, Castor Consulting LLC at the age of 21. She has worked on political campaigns from Mayoral to Presidential, including serving as the youngest statewide director for America Coming Together (ACT), a groundbreaking 527 organization.

Her consulting work has led her to hold many prominent positions supporting the elected officials she worked to put into office providing oversight and advisement on strategy for complex multi-billion dollar portfolios and multi-million dollar initiatives.

Even with her political appointments within Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, Mayor Vincent C. Gray and Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s administrations you could often find her walking through the local communities she was chosen to serve, listening to residents and immersing herself in the community.

She is passionately committed to the causes of social, racial, and economic inequities which prompted her shift to the Philanthropic sector.

Sandy became the Program Officer for the MCJ Amelior Foundation, a family foundation founded by Ray Chambers.

Sandy led a growing portfolio of initiatives focused on community development in Newark’s West Ward. The objective was to strengthen and re-establish the pillars that are critical to the vibrancy of any community by tackling many of the social determinants of health: workforce development, economic investment, education, health care access, and public safety.

In this capacity she grew their Newark portfolio focused on equitable development; facilitated the development of a multi-million dollar, 30K sq ft state of the art health center; and expedited authorization of a 2.5 acre agreement between NJSDA and the City of Newark for a $400M+ cutting edge community revitalization project.

It is in managing that portfolio of work that she was compelled to join the Baldwin Equities team as a consultant, structuring, negotiating, and managing to completion their real estate transactions and growing portfolio in Newark, NJ and Philadelphia, PA.

Sandy is the founding board member of SHEWins! Inc.; she is on the Board of Trustees for Home Corp; and newly appointed to the Board of Trustees for Mount St. Dominic Academy. She serves on the advisory council for Mount St. Dominic Academy (MSDA) Alumnae Council; and is a member of AIPAC’s National Council.

Sandy attended Carnegie Mellon University and earned her B.S. in Political Science from Fordham University and is currently pursuing her MBA from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
