Chair of the Board of Trustees, Fetzer Institute

Since 2001, Rob Lehman has chaired the board of trustees of the Fetzer Institute where he served as president from 1989 to 2000. He also served as board chair of the John E. Fetzer Memorial Trust from 1991 to 2014.

Under his leadership as president, the Institute contributed to the development and mainstreaming of the fields of mind/body/spirit health, social-emotional learning, contemplative practice, and scientific research on love and forgiveness, in furtherance of fostering the integration of the inner life of mind and spirit with the outer life of service and action. As chairman of the board, Rob has led the Institute in establishing and evolving its “Deep Engagement” model of governance and helped usher in today’s mission of “Helping build the spiritual foundation for a loving world.”

Before joining the Fetzer Institute, Rob was vice president of the Kettering Foundation, and prior to his work with foundations, Rob was associate dean and professor at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He holds a law degree and a master’s degree in theology.
