Renaud de Viel Castel brings 17+ years of experience in technology, logistics and mobility, combined with a passion and vision for environmental innovation. He is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Rubicon, one of the fastest growing technology companies in America that provides cloud-based environmental solutions to businesses and governments worldwide. As COO, Renaud drives product use and adoption, customer account management as well as the digitization of the company. In addition to his operational responsibilities, Renaud is also Senior Vice President for Global Expansion at Rubicon. As such, he oversees the company’s international growth, forming relationships with environmental companies, and developing innovative partnerships with commercial and government customers around the world. Renaud joined Rubicon in 2016.

Prior to joining Rubicon, he held several leadership positions at Veolia North America, a global environmental solutions company focused on helping customers address sustainability challenges in energy, water and waste. Most recently, Renaud was General Manager at Transdev North America, a leader in the transportation industry, and the largest private sector provider of multimodal transportation in North America. Originally from Paris, France, Renaud graduated with a Master of Science in global management from the Business School of Rouen as well as with a Master’s degree in economics from the EDC Paris Business School.

Among many accolades and distinctions, Renaud was named French Senior Trade Advisor by the French Government in 2020 to promote Transatlantic trade between France and the United States. In 2016, he was also named ‘40 Under 40’ for the Washington D.C. area. Renaud has shared his powerful insights to engage audiences in venues such as the French Founders Transatlantic Leaders Forum. He has a deep understanding of where the transportation and environmental industries are going, combined with an expertise on smart cities technology.
