Raúl Echeberría is a broadly recognized expert in Internet Development, Policy and Governance. He is currently the Executive Director of ALAI, the Latinamerican Internet Association.
Raúl served as Vice President for Global Engagement and Relations at Internet Society (ISOC) and before that he was member of the Board of Trustees of ISOC and Chair of that Board between 2009 and 2012.
Echeberrría was one of the founders of LACNIC (The Internet Addresses Regsitry for Latin America and the Caribbean) and CEO of the organizations for 12 years.
Along his career, Raúl has also served in other important positions like: Member of the Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG), member of the Uruguayan delegation to the World Information Society Summit (WSIS), member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group of the Internet Govenance Forum (IGF MAG) and Co-chair of the Executive Committee of NetMundial in 2014.
Echeberría has been recognized with National and Regional awards for his continued contribution to the development of an Open Internet.
