Tonya M. Evans, J.D., is a Professor of Law and Chair of Intellectual Property & Technology Online Programs at the University of New Hampshire School of Law. She is also primarily responsible for developing  the law school’s suite of blockchain law courses. Professor Evans has expertise in the areas of intellectual property, new technologies (including blockchain and distributed ledger technology), entrepreneurship & innovation, entertainment law, trusts & estates, and municipal finance. She writes, speaks, and teaches primarily about the intersections of copyright and new technologies as well as estates law issues and she also advises technology and entertainment startups. Professor Evans is a member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Focus Group on Digital Currency including Digital Fiat Currency, the ITU Focus Group on Application of Distributed Ledger Technology, and also the Accord Project’s Intellectual Property Working Group, which works to develop best practices and standardization of smart legal contracts. Finally, Professor Evans recently accepted an appointment for a three-year term to serve on the Intellectual Property Committee of the Advisory Council to the United States Court of Federal Claims. Professor Evans graduated with honors from Howard University School of Law and Northwestern University (Dean’s List). She is licensed to practice in PA, NJ, DC and NY.
