Patrick Diamond (he/him) leads several innovation challenges at MIT Solve. He designs and implements strategies to democratize resources for social entrepreneurs: people developing solutions to social, cultural, and environmental challenges. Patrick advises foundation and business leaders on adopting new investment strategies, especially by means of open innovation and design thinking methods. Patrick currently leads several innovation challenges spanning the health care and workforce sectors. He shares responsibility for investing a total of $19.5M in social innovation funding. These challenges include the $5M Global Surgical Training Challenge, £10M The Trinity Challenge, $625K Reimagining Pathways to Employment Challenge, and $150K The Horizon Prize. Prior to Solve, Patrick managed partnerships at a community health center in Baltimore, Maryland that provides integrated health care services to people experiencing homelessness. This work inspired him to achieve a graduate degree focused on public policy and health innovation. Patrick grew up in Maine and is the proud grandson of a lobsterman. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies from Loyola University Maryland, and a master’s degree in public policy and health innovation from the University of Pennsylvania. Patrick recently achieved a Climate Change and Health Certificate from the Yale School of Public Health.
