Senior Program Officer, Meridian International Center

Meg Clifford Poole has worked at Meridian International Center since 1999 in numerous capacities. Since joining Meridian, Meg has worked primarily on people-to-people exchanges, including the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program and professional exchanges for U.S. embassies overseas. She currently works as a Senior Program Officer in the Global Connect Division designing highly customized exchanges for public and private sector clients and serves as the team lead for the Pan African Youth Leadership Program (PAYLP) which welcomes approximately 150 youth from Sub-Saharan Africa to the U.S. for a 3-week leadership development training. Over the years, Meg has designed and implemented approximately 225 programs for nearly 1300 visitors from around the world. Among other themes, her programs focus on social entrepreneurship, civic engagement and volunteerism, promotion of arts and culture, and inter-faith dialogue. In 2015, Meg led the design and implementation of the inaugural cohort of the Meridian Social Innovation Fellows – challenging emerging leaders to identify solutions to social and economic challenges in their communities and supporting them via training and mentorship while they implement.

Prior to joining Meridian, Ms. Poole lived in West Africa and volunteered for the Association for Rural Development, a small indigenous agricultural development organization in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Ms. Poole earned her Masters Degree in International Relations from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri and Regent’s College, London.
