Max Castroparedes, a native Texan, advises the Assistant Secretary for Border Security and Immigration at the Department of Homeland Security. His portfolio includes human trafficking, immigration visa reform, and China’s impact on the U.S. education system. As a graduate of the University of Virginia majoring in foreign affairs, Max wrote his thesis on the end of the Cold War in Central America, highlighting Secretary of State James Baker’s extraordinary diplomacy.  Most recently, he was selected to participate in the Council on Foreign Relations Young Professional Briefing Series.  Max enjoys playing squash, long-distance running, and rowing.
