Maria Rocio Vargas is a Lawyer from Universidad de los Andes with a second degree in Public Management. She has experience in both the public and private sectors in the areas of Public Relations, Public Policy, Government Affairs, International Business, and Project Finance for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
Prior to her work at Montfort, Maria Rocio worked in ProColombia (Colombia’s investment promotion agency) as Senior Investment Representative in Washington DC, promoting FDI for Colombia, managing public relations, generating promotion activities, and giving support to companies on investment strategy.
Maria also worked with President Ivan Duque as an Advisor to his Chief of Staff, Maria Paula Correa. In this position, she was responsible for helping in programming and coordinating the national and international agenda of the President, and handling public relationships and engagements. She was also appointed by the President as Technical Secretary of the Ministerial Cabinet Meetings. During this time, she was nominated by the US Embassy in Colombia to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the Department of State and completed the program in 2021.
Previously, Maria worked at Philippi, Prietocarrizosa, Ferrero DU & Uría (PPU) a top-tier law form in Colombia with presence in various countries in LATAM and in Spain, advising the national government and international companies in Public-Private Partnerships as well as Project Finance.
