Macani Toungara

Senior Director for Program Development, TechnoServe

Macani Toungara is an international affairs professional specializing in international economic development. She is currently the Senior Director for Program Development for TechnoServe, a non-profit organization dedicated to implementing business solutions to poverty in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and India. In this role, Ms. Toungara leads global strategic engagement with the Gates Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.K. Department for International Development. She also oversees the organization’s response to major solicitations, and leads private-public partnership strategy. Macani has led TechnoServe to secure over $40M in revenue for programs designed to increase incomes for the poor and develop inclusive market systems. She previously worked in Ghana as TechnoServe’s Business Development Manager for West Africa, where she developed concept notes and proposals on a range of subjects including public-private partnerships, supply chain linkages, SME development, food security promotion, and job creation. She also led consulting engagements for corporate and public clients.

Before joining TechnoServe, Ms. Toungara was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Washington, D.C., where she worked on projects in consumer goods and financial services. Ms. Toungara holds a Master’s in Public Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, and a law degree cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center. She also holds a B.A. cum laude in economics from Harvard University and is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
