JUAN CARLOS MAHECHA CAÑON is the Executive Director of the Colombia in Peace Fund (FCP in Spanish) since September 2018. Prior to his appointment, he was CEO of Almagrario S.A. He has also served as Director of the Risk Unit of BBVA (2005) and as CFO of Helm Trust (2001). He became Deputy Director of Planning and Analysis of the Colombian Ministry of Finance and Public Credit in 1994, and he worked at the Central Bank of Colombia (1993).
Mr. Mahecha has served as member of the boards of several financial sector institutions and, further to this, he has also been Professor of Finance at Universidad Externado and Universidad Libre. He graduated in business administration and has a strong background in international finance and business.
As Executive Director, he has recently been appointed representative of the President of the Republic at the National Commission of Agricultural Credit; the body responsible for defining the funding mechanisms for the agricultural sector. He has been also promoting rural financial inclusion programs, for sustainable access to the housing market and to foster productive and commercial projects.
At FCP, he is responsible for leading the resource management for the implementation of the Final Peace Agreement.
