Geoff Healy

Chief External Affairs Officer, BHP

Geoff joined BHP as Chief Legal Counsel in June 2013. In March 2016, he assumed the role of Chief
External Affairs Officer, with global accountability for Functions dealing with all of the Group’s non-financial
risks. In addition to Legal, these include teams responsible for external affairs, compliance, health and
safety, the environment, internal audit and risk. Geoff regularly represents BHP at external events and in
meetings with Governments, speaking on topics such as sustainability, free trade, anti-corruption and risk.

Prior to BHP, Geoff was a senior partner at Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), with a broad practice across its
network of Australian and international offices. His work at HSF spanned corporate and regulatory
advisory work, risk management, investigations and disputes. His work has involved major commercial
disputes in countries from Australia and Indonesia to the UK, as well as cross-border regulatory inquiries.
Geoff plays a prominent role in the international legal community, including as an active member of the
International Bar Association.

Geoff has also been a member of the New South Wales Law Society professional conduct review tribunal and undertaken work for a range of charitable and not-for-profit organisations over many years.
