Feven Mekuria is a medical doctor with more than ten years of public health program management experience in Ethiopia. Based in Atlanta, Feven currently serves as the Senior Technical Advisor for Health Systems Strengthening with the Health Equity and Rights (HER) team, focusing on community health systems and frontline health care workers. In this role she provides technical leadership on the health systems strengthening strategy of the global team, leads on the adaptation and application of successful models and best practices for empowering frontline health care workers and meaningful community engagement across the humanitarian to development continuum.

Feven collaborates with colleagues from across CARE to identify key approaches, consolidate learning, and support refinement, expansion and scale up of program innovations and approaches, including those specifically aimed at removing barriers for remote and marginalized groups to access sexual reproductive health information and services. She is responsible to collaborate and network with strategic partners to share learnings and influence programming around community health systems. She is working and supporting the scale up of a successful program model, collaborating with national and district level government through facilitating capacity building activities to adapt, integrate and institutionalize the model within the government strategies and workplans.

Previously, Feven was the SRH program coordinator for CARE Ethiopia where she coordinated a large range of health-related interventions throughout Ethiopia, ensuring technical and operational excellence in compliance with the policies and regulations of multiple institutional donors. She has been engaged with various adolescent SRH related programs including HIV, OVC (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) initiatives and is particularly skilled and experienced in programming related to complex social change in culturally sensitive areas such as gender based violence (GBV) and harmful traditional practices like early marriage.
