Erica Tavares is Senior Director, US Programs & Advancement, at International Medical Corps, where she mobilizes partnerships, resources and awareness to support programs that provide access to lifesaving healthcare, training and health services that builds self-reliance for communities on the front lines of America’s health crises. With two decades of nonprofit and fundraising experience, Tavares specializes in developing high impact, public-private partnerships, and expertly mobilizing and leveraging resources to meet community-driven goals, astutely bridging donors’ and implementers’ needs for effective investment and results. Previously, Tavares served on the senior management teams as Chief Development Officer at USA for UNHCR, raising $100M in response to crisis in Ukraine and Women for Women International as the Director of Development; she also traveled extensively to help establish programs in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Afghanistan, Rwanda and the DRC.

Prior to her current role at International Medical Corps, Tavares was the Vice President, Institutional Advancement, where she led the development of transformational multi-sector partnerships with a number of foundation, academic, and organizational partners and Fortune 500 companies, including AbbVie, FedEx, the Gates Foundation, JPMorgan Chase and P&G, among others, exceeding $40 million annually. Tavares has served on a number of boards, including the Partnership for Quality Medical Donations, and has previously worked with the Democratic National Committee, where she was a member of the 2000 Gore-Lieberman campaign and supported the election recount in Miami. Tavares received her B.A. in Political Science from American University, and is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Social Justice and Community Action from the University of Edinburgh. She currently lives in Plymouth, MA with her two children — 15 year-old Billy and 11 year-old Maddy.
