Dr. Sheri Fink

Dr. Sheri Fink is a correspondent at The New York Times and contributed to its Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic. She is a co-creator and an executive producer of the Netflix documentary television series Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak, filmed in 2019. Her and her colleagues’ articles on the 2014-2015 Ebola crisis in West Africa were recognized with a Pulitzer Prize for international reporting, a George Polk Award for health reporting and an Overseas Press Club Hal Boyle Award. Her article “The Deadly Choices at Memorial,” co-published by The New York Times Magazine and ProPublica, received a 2010 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting and a National Magazine Award for reporting. She is the author of the New York Times best-selling book “Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital” (Crown), about choices made in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. A former relief worker in disaster and conflict zones, she received her M.D. and Ph.D. from Stanford University and is an adjunct associate professor at the Tulane School of Public Health. Her first book, “War Hospital: A True Story of Surgery and Survival,” is about medical professionals under siege during the genocide in Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina. She is at work on a book about the Covid-19 pandemic.
