Physician with a Ph.D from the University Autonoma in Barcelona, Spain, an MPH from Tulane University, an MA in Social Services Project Planning from the University of Coruña, Spain and a medical degree from the University of Antioquia, Colombia.
Dr. Bernal has more than 15 years of experience living and working in developing countries including Cambodia, Angola, Sudan, Liberia, Guatemala, Bolivia, Indonesia, and Colombia and have worked in many other countries for shorter periods of time.
He is currently a full professor at the Andes University, Bogota, Colombia, a university ranked in the top 300 in the world. His main research areas and publications are in public health policy, health systems, health information, and global health.
Dr. Bernal does consultancies for many agencies including the World Bank, the Global Fund, OCDE, the Inter-American Development Bank and PAHO/WHO.
