Dorothy McAuliffe was appointed by President Joe Biden as the U.S. Special Representative for Global Partnerships. Special Representative McAuliffe leads the Office of Global Partnerships to directly support the Administration’s policy priorities of renewing U.S. leadership and mobilizing coalitions to address global challenges by engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, including a broad range of civil society and private sector actors in policy implementation.

Special Representative McAuliffe and her team identify areas of opportunity for collaboration between the Department of State and the private sector to create public-private partnerships to advance the top foreign policy priorities of the United States promoting global prosperity and shaping an international environment in which the United States can thrive. Special Representative McAuliffe has a strong background in public-private partnerships and cross-sector engagement. She most recently served as the national policy advisor for Share Our Strength and the No Kid Hungry Campaign where she met with federal, state, and local government leaders, as well as members of the business and philanthropic sectors to create partnerships and advocate for policies to end child hunger and advance equity in public education. She has served on numerous non-profit and public boards.

As First Lady of Virginia, McAuliffe founded and chaired Virginia’s Council on Bridging the Nutritional Divide, a groundbreaking initiative which forged cross-sector, public-private collaboration to improve childhood nutrition and build food access initiatives.

Special Representative McAuliffe has a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was an editor on the Journal of Law and Policy in International Business. She has a bachelor’s degree in Politics from The Catholic University of America and was a Fellow at Georgetown’s Institute of Politics and Policy at the McCourt School of Public Service.
