Daniel Rowland

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Yale, Rowland studied history at Oxford University on a Marshall Scholarship, and returned to Yale for his Ph.D. He taught at the University of Kentucky from 1974 to 2012, and served as Director of the Gaines Center for the Humanities from 1997 to 2007. His teaching and research have concentrated on Russia before 1825. His latest publication is a collection of essays: “God, Tsar, and People: the Political Culture of Early Modern Russia,” Cornell University Press, 2020.
