Christian Gómez, Jr. is Director for Global Government Affairs – Latin America at Walmart. Based in Bentonville, Arkansas, he supports Walmart’s relations with Latin American governments and policy stakeholders such as multilateral organizations, think tanks, trade associations, academia, and NGOs. As Economic Growth Advisor in the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean at USAID, he served as chief economist for LAC, designing trade facilitation projects in Central America and spearheading the Agency’s migration policy for Guatemala. At the Council of the Americas, he led programs on energy in the Western Hemisphere, and published numerous articles and op-eds in leading regional publications. He has also consulted for the International Finance Corporation, served as a research analyst at the Inter-American Dialogue, directed Princeton in Latin America, and worked in Costa Rica at the Arias Foundation, on a PiLA Fellowship. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School, an MA from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, and an AB in Political Economy from Princeton University. He lives in Bentonville with his wife and two children.
