Cecilia Duque Duque has invested her more than forty years of her life working for the development of the craftwork sector in Colombia. She began her career leading the museum of Popular Arts and Traditions. She has also been linked with the Organization of American States as a craft consultant for the Cultural Department during the 1970’s decade. Later on she was appointed Director of “Artesanías de Colombia”, where she worked for 16 years. She lifted the banner of design and innovation launching the successful “Expoartesanias” fair as well as projects like “Plaza de los Artesanos” (a fairground for handcrafts and manufactures in Bogotá), “Laboratorios de diseño“ (design labs for the craftwork sector), ”Centro de Documentación para la Artesanía” (a documantation and research center) , and Interdesign (craftsmanship in interior design), among others..Lately, she has focused on research projects that have led into two coffee table books: “Maestros del Arte Popular colombiano”, and “Lenguaje Creativo de Etnias indígenas de Colombia” published by “Grupo Sura”. She has also leads the projects “Memoria y Creatividad: la Empresa Indígena”, and “Sabiduría Ancestral Indígena”, both sponsored by “Fundación Sura”.
