Carlos Calleja is a social entrepreneur and pre-candidate for the Presidency of El Salvador. His family business, Grupo Calleja, is a supermarket retail, real estate, and financial services conglomerate based in El Salvador. Super Selectos, Grupo Calleja’s core business, is El Salvador’s leading supermarket chain and one of the country’s largest and most admired companies, with over 7,000 employees and 98 stores nationwide. Super Selectos’ Corporate Social Responsibility program, “Cultivando Oportunidades,” and Fundación Calleja, over which Carlos presides, have been case studies in success for their advancements in promoting sustainable development in El Salvador.
Building on his success in the private sector and social entrepreneurship, Carlos has decided to embark on a political career, and is seeking the Presidential Candidacy for the upcoming elections in 2019. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
