Barry is a founding member of SAS Institute’s Data Ethics Practice. After spending over three decades in software development, support and delivery, he now leads global development efforts to support SAS, our customers and communities in which we operate with human-centered best practices and solutions that promote responsible, equitable judgments where SAS technologies are deployed with a particular emphasis on minimizing harms to vulnerable populations. With a passion for startups, he’s helped to launch several initiatives at SAS, such technologies in the area of spatial graphics, fraud detection, customer relationship management, anti-money laundering. He is a founding member of one of SAS’s Employee Initiative Groups the Black Initiatives Group (BIG). His current focus area is helping to align the SAS culture with the principles that back SAS’s Responsible Innovation journey. Barry is also a founding member of New Freedom Ventures, LLC an angel funding concern and a founding member and governing board member of Youth About Business and 501(c)(3) concern.
