LOCATION

Concordia has offices in NY, NY and Palm Beach, FL. The candidate is ideally located in NY, NY. Concordia is open to remote work from locations in the United States, with regular visits to NYC offices.

 

Purpose of Position

Concordia is the premier global convener of heads of state, government officials, C-suite executives, and leaders from nonprofits, think tanks, and foundations, dedicated to finding market-driven, cross-sector solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Our Annual Summit, the largest and most inclusive nonpartisan forum alongside the UN General Assembly, brings together diverse voices to drive action. Additionally, established and growing regional initiatives focus on key global areas, including the Americas, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. 

With oversight of the entire Concordia community, the Partnerships Department manages the organization’s Programming Partners, Programming Sponsors, and Individual and Patron Members. Working closely with these individuals and organizations on a regular basis, the department curates topical content aimed at amplifying important initiatives, identifies opportunities for partnership, supports early stage partnership design and implementation, and ultimately deepens collaboration across sectors, industries, and geographies. The department serves as the primary fundraising engine of the organization through these various relationships.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director, Partnerships, provides daily support in the cultivation, stewardship and execution of all funding relationships for Concordia. Provides daily guidance, collaboration and synergy with partnerships team and cross team coordination within Concordia. Represents the organization across internal and external functions.

This role provides essential oversight for Concordia’s various categories of funder engagement:

Programming Sponsorship – Corporate

Programming Partnership – Civil society & academia, select government

Individual and Patron Membership – Individual, corporate/organization

Grantmaking & Major Gifts – Individual, corporate/organization, select government

Essential skills for this position include: 

  • Strong orientation towards processes and systems, with the ability to balance SOPs alongside relationship nuances and dynamic fundraising landscape.
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience, especially in creating multi-year sponsorship opportunities that are mutually beneficial and impact based for all partners. Membership program design and execution experience desired.
  • Superb relationship management skills ranging from cold calling to cultivation, stewardship and renewal of partnerships.
  • Experience in utilizing cutting edge CRM technology for maximum effectiveness (and a respect/adherence to data management processes and developing data driven strategy).
  • Experience managing a hybrid team with a variety of portfolios.

     

    Position responsibilities

    • Strategic Partnerships
      • In close coordination with Concordia’s executive leadership, serves as the primary departmental lead on outreach and relationship management, drawing on institutional knowledge, desk research, industry best practices, and creativity. 
      • Develops and enhances Membership offerings and Programming Partner and Programming Sponsorship packages, tailoring packages to meet unique relationship needs alongside Concordia’s core competencies and strengths.
      • Liaises with Programming Partners and Programming Sponsors to articulate partnership development objectives and develop actionable steps, in support of partnership goals and in line with their Concordia engagement, to deliver on Concordia’s mission.
      • Manages select Member, Programming Partnership and Programming Sponsorship engagements and tracks deliverables of engagements across the organization.
      • In close coordination with Concordia Communications Team and with support of Senior Manager, Partnerships, charts communications and marketing campaigns strategy relating to key relationships
      • In close coordination with Concordia’s executive leadership, co-leads on defining Programming Partnership and Programming Sponsorship strategy for forthcoming year, following a thorough audit of: applied versus offered benefits, collected data on partnering objectives/priorities, direct interviews with confirmed and prospective sponsors, and other desk research.

    • Operations
      • Represents Department internally.
      • In close coordination with Concordia’s executive leadership, supports the restructuring of the department to maximize efficiencies and support more harmonized relationship cultivation, as well as team member professional growth.
      • Provides timely and accurate reporting of Programming Partnership and Programming Sponsorships engagements pipeline during weekly development meetings.
      • Plans and schedules meetings and appointments related to Programming Partnerships and Programming Sponsorships with other teams and/or external stakeholders.
      • Supports and advises junior team members across all partnership categories.
      • Ensures that relevant department data is updated utilizing project management tools employed by the organization.

     

You Have

  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
  • Highly honed fundraising skills and a successful track record (six + years) of creating/building, implementing and maintaining strategic funding relationships, especially with corporations and foundations; membership program experience a plus
  • Grant writing and/or reporting experience
  • An ability to meet clear funding expectations and goals
  • Leadership and management skills suitable to the needs of the department, which includes no less than 5x individuals (currently, 7x full time staff plus seasonal intern support)
  • Experience working with high-level contacts (C-Suite/Ministerial)
  • Proven budget development and budget management skills
  • Strong listening and verbal/written communication skills with both internal and external audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Product; Experience with Salesforce is a plus
  • Spanish language skills are a plus
