Concordia Members, Partners, and Advisors connect and collaborate year-round within ten Programming Pipelines, each representing a topical global challenge or social impact opportunity. Each Pipeline houses several points of engagement that bring our community together to share best practices, incubate ideas, identify research needs, and explore new opportunities for partnerships. Each Pipeline also contains one or more Collaboratives comprised of issue area experts that work on more specific, ongoing topics with the end goal of forming a partnership for social impact.
The Diplomacy & Defense Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from national security challenges and cybersecurity threats to peacebuilding efforts and rapprochement. Concordia Members in this Working Group will address narratives of great power politics, the increasing presence of non-state actors, and regional political stability. Collaboratives of Advisors and Partners are working together to counter violent extremism, to explore open source intelligence gathering, and to reinforce diplomatic exchanges around the world.
The Economic Development & International Finance Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from international monetary and fiscal policy to financial inclusion and impact investing. Concordia Members in this Working Group will address political risk and investment climates, market-based approaches to policy initiatives, and the growth opportunities for small and medium enterprises in developing nations. Collaboratives of Advisors and Partners are working together to harness the power of global philanthropy, to promote sustainable and responsible investment, and to supply economic opportunities to the world’s bottom billion.
The Education, Entrepreneurship & Workforce Development Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from employment and skills matching within the job market to technology’s role in and access to education. Concordia Members in this Working Group address the changing demands of a 21st century workforce, embracing technology in higher education, and the exploration of new models for learning systems. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to continually innovate within academia, to prioritize education for migrant populations, and to support youth entrepreneurship in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Environmental Security & Natural Resource Management Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from climate change and environmental stewardship to responsible extraction and energy independence. Concordia Members in this Working Group address sustainable agriculture, renewable energies, and global conservation efforts. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to ensure universal water access and security, to explore a Pan-American energy alliance, and to establish an ethical and sustainable global food supply.
The Gender Parity & Inclusive Diversity Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from women and girl’s empowerment to closing opportunity and achievement gaps for boys and young men of color. Concordia Members in this Working Group address more equitable representation in the C-suite, equal access to education for girls, and encourages women’s political participation globally. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to advocate for underrepresented minorities in the workplace, to empower the Office of the First Lady in nations around the world, and to increase the representation of women in both public and private sector seats of power.
The Good Governance & Democracy Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from the rule of law and international justice to promoting democratic governance and ensuring the peaceful transfer of power. Concordia Members in this Working Group address the risk of environments conducive to corruption, impediments to accountable governments, and vested private sector interests in transparency. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to foster cultures of accountability, to ensure free and fair elections, and to align anti-corruption efforts with stabilizing security measures around the world.
The Global Health & Emergency Response Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from international epidemics and equitable health access to global aid delivery and natural disaster preparedness. Concordia Members in this Working Group address response and resilience efforts, infectious and non-communicable diseases, and mental health issues. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to advance collaborative cancer research, to strengthen community health systems, and to scale solutions for maternal and child health worldwide.
The Human Rights & Civil Liberties Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from human trafficking and modern day slavery to migrant populations and the refugee crisis. Concordia Members in this Working Group address changing the narrative in refugee discourse, supporting emerging democracies, and ensuring equal rights for minority and at-risk communities. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to rid corporate supply chains of slave labor, to engage the private sector in addressing the Syrian refugee crisis, and to ensure basic human freedoms globally.
The Innovative Technology & Sustainable Infrastructure Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from scientific advances and information access to resiliency and preparedness. Concordia Members in this Working Group address challenges from urban revitalization and smart city development to universal access to information and communication technologies both in the United States and abroad. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to identify opportunities to improve water infrastructure and security through innovative financing mechanisms, to promote inclusive growth through financial digitization, and to utilize technological advances in innovative applications across industries.
The Shared Value & Social Impact Pipeline focuses on issues ranging from corporate philanthropy and social responsibility to capital mobilization and business school training. Concordia Members in this Working Group address triple bottom line mindsets, the mechanics of partnership building, and the assignment of metrics to social impact initiatives. Collaborative Advisors and Partners are working together to prioritize private sector investment in the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, to support shared value initiatives within corporate culture, and to find business solutions to social problems.
Concordia partners with leading think tanks, innovative government bureaus, and international nonprofit institutions to develop our action-oriented year-round programming. Through a collaborative and iterative process, Concordia and its Programming Partners curate topical content, develop event objectives, and construct convening deliverables around timely global challenges.
