Congresswoman Harman brings with her a wealth of experience in international relations & government affairs, as well as an extensive leadership background in both the public and private sector. Harman’s prominent career includes nine terms as U.S. Representative for California’s 36th Congressional District. She is widely recognized as an expert at the nexus of national security and public policy issues and is a frequent commentator in the international media.

Harman’s experience will be particularly relevant to programming aligned with Concordia’s “Diplomacy and Defense” Programming Pipeline, one of Concordia’s 10 focus areas that seeks to counter violent extremism, explore open source intelligence gathering, and reinforce diplomatic exchanges around the world.

“Over the past two years, Concordia has collaborated with the Wilson Center to address issues related to security and foreign policy, gender parity, and leadership in Africa. We are delighted to have Ms. Harman join our expanding Leadership Council, and we look forward to her experience in building meaningful partnerships that create lasting social impact,” remarked Concordia Co-Founders Matthew Swift and Nicholas Logothetis.

Harman commented, “My passion for public policy aligns well with Concordia’s commitment to examine the world’s most pressing challenges and identify avenues for collaboration. I look forward to contributing to the non partisan dialogue and working with their team to develop partnerships for a more sustainable and prosperous future around the globe.”

Harman’s experience enables her to provide strategic insight in engaging the global community through collaboration, and her addition to the Leadership Council will bring an astute, innovative perspective to Concordia’s community.
