On June 17th, P3i released its second country-specific study: “Reaching Across Sectors: Challenges and Opportunities for Youth Employment in Colombia.” The report examines the factors associated with youth unemployment, including the magnitude of the informal economy, biases against certain sectors and education institutions, and inconsistent access to quality education. Based on the report’s findings, we provide recommendations on how the government can partner with the private sector to strategically tackle barriers to youth employment and thus promote economic wellbeing.

P3i will release a study on youth unemployment in Vietnam in early July and two P3-focused case studies in August.

The P3i team welcomes two summer research interns: Cheryl He and Anika Huq. Prior to Concordia, Cheryl worked on criminal offender rehabilitation and reintegration in Singapore. She is eager to apply her quantitative skills to index development and analysis. Anika brings to Concordia two years of international experience in project implementation and research for the UN. She is excited to apply her forward thinking and creative vision to analyze the mechanics of and environment around P3s. Both Cheryl and Anika are both Masters degree candidates at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).
