Mazen Hayek joined MBC Group in October 2006. Hayek’s role as MBC Group’s Official Spokesman is coupled with Commercial, PR & CSR responsibilities, with the objective to nurture mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders, namely: the Press/Media, Sr. Government officials, NGOs, Top business decision-makers, Advertisers/Clients/Brand guardians, Media Buying Units/Ad/PR Agencies, Suppliers and End-consumers.
Today, MBC Group consists of 20 TV channels: MBC1 (general entertainment); MBC2 and MBC MAX (24-hour Free-To-Air western content movies); MBC3 (children’s edutainment); MBC4 (entertainment for young Arab families with a female-focus); MBC Action (an indigenous adrenaline-packed channel); MBC Variety (Western films and general entertainment); Al Arabiya News Channel (24-hour Arabic language News channel); Al Hadath (a News Channel with a specific focus on developing stories & LIVE events); MBC MASR (general entertainment targeting the Egyptian family); MBC MASR 2 (Premium entertainment and Special coverage); MBC DRAMA (24/7 Drama series & soaps); MBC+ DRAMA (Pay-TV channel available on the Orbit Showtime Network – “OSN”); MBC BOLLYWOOD (the freshest in Bollywood & Asian content, movies and series); MBC PROSports (a bouquet of 4 HD TV channels dedicated to the “Saudi Football Premier League”); WANASAH (24-hour Music); and MBC USA (on “Dish Network” in the US targeting Arab audiences).
MBC Group also includes 2 FM Radio stations: MBC FM (Gulf music) and Panorama FM (contemporary Arabic hit music); as well as O3 Productions, a premium content drama production company. It’s worth noting that Hayek is an Executive Board Member of the “International Advertising Association – IAA” UAE Chapter (June 2014 -2016); a Board Member of “INJAZ Al-Arab” (since June 2012); and a Member of the UAE Official Committee of the “Arab Reading Challenge” (Sept. 2015).
Prior to joining MBC Group, Hayek was the Managing Director of Manning Selvage & Lee Public Relations (“MS&L/Dubai”), an entity of the Leo Burnett Group MENA (part of “Publicis Groupe”). During his tenure, Hayek oversaw the Agency’s delivery of PR counsel to a wide range of industry-leading clients and led MS&L’s regional office, overseeing a strong team of PR consultants. Holder of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Université Saint-Joseph (USJ), Beirut-Lebanon, Mazen Hayek is a former Master of Arts (MA) student in Political Studies at the American University of Beirut (AUB); and Université de Paris-I Panthéon-Sorbonne. In June 2013, Hayek successfully completed the “High Potentials Leadership Program” (“HPLP”) at Harvard Business School (HBS), Boston – Massachusetts.
